The Waukee wow: new concert venue opening
Share

Waukee used to be known as a small town on the outer fringes of Des Moines. Next month, it takes a big step toward stealing concert business away from Iowa’s capital city.

The Vibrant Music Hall, a venue with a capacity of up to 3,300 (according to published reports), has a pulsing beat that is ideal for music concerts with crowds on their feet, plus a swanky lounge that is a good fit for small private events and comedy shows.

It’s the anchor of the $100 million Kee Town Loop development, combining entertainment, restaurants, and a hotel. This is no longer a sleepy little town with the Triangle bordered by a handful of small businesses.

The Live Nation arena (a national player in ticketing and arenas) held a soft opening Tuesday. The first show is Nov. 5 when NEEDTOBREATHE appears. Bands like Chicago, Skillet and Pierce the Veil are already booked.

I’ve been to a lot of concert venues across the country and let me tell you — this is BIG.

From the moment you drive up to the new parking lot, it’s an impressive view.
