Our record-setting mild weather this winter allowed me to wear colorful outfits nearly every day.
And I didn’t mind it a bit.
This winter season (December 21-March 19) is traditionally a time when Iowans have to bundle up under layers of heavy clothing and thick coats. Mother Nature said “nonsense” other than a few weeks during January.
That’s why you may have seen me in a variety of clothing, from holiday fun stuff to short sleeves in February.

Here are a few outfits I’d like to share.
The Christmas season gave me a chance to wear my green and red suits, particularly when paired with a festive tie. Some will say it’s tacky to wear a jacket with gingerbread men or Christmas tree lights.
Get over it, Scrooge.

I found myself in Las Vegas during Super Bowl Week, and decided to support both the Kansas City Chiefs (this year’s winner) and the Iowans like Brock Purdy and George Kittle who played for the San Francisco 49ers. It was a fantastic game, and the Chiefs fans in town loved my red and gold combination I wore.
(Note: Since I’m most likely a sportswriter and rarely a fan, it was an unusual time for me to dress in the colors of any sports team.)
Las Vegas was a great destination for the Super Bowl, as I wrote about earlier this year.
