Fun and Fluffernutters find a home at Omaha seafood restaurant
Sand Point has an eastern take on seafood in Omaha
An Omaha restaurant in the middle of the country is serving New England-style seafood, more than 1,400 miles from Boston.
Can you call that a fish out of water?
But Sand Point, a northwest Omaha restaurant that serves lunch and dinner, is a delightful dining experience. There’s seafood as well as a tasty twist on New England classics like Yankee Pot Roast.
And the most unexpected delight? A toasted Fluffernutter sandwich for dessert.

Sand Point has a heritage from New England, with owners that transplanted recipes (and inspiration) from back East. It’s located at 655 North 114th Street in the neighborhood known as Miracle Hills.
One of the owners, who said she used to live in Connecticut, helped create a New England menu from what she loved back home: Lobster rolls, clam chowder and steamers.

There is plenty of wonderful fare. And while many of the dishes own their roots in New England, there are unique takes on some of the food.
I ordered a bowl of the lobster bisque. My past experiences with this soup are that it’s fairly light and creamy, with lots of lobster flavor. (I once had it at a Boston restaurant that included sweet corn in the mix, and it was very good.)
