Looking for concert tickets and a rare bargain? Now’s your chance.
Live Nation’s popular Concert Week promotion is going on now, and ticket-hungry fans for more than 5,000 shows across the country have been offered a limited number of admissions for as little as $25.
To a fan like me, who’s willing to travel to see a show, it can be a sensational value. But the deal ends Tuesday.

Your pal John is going to provide some advice as you navigate this entertainment package:
*Don’t wait. The longer you delay to lock in a deal, the more likely it is the $25 tickets will be sold out.
*Consider how far you’re willing to drive or fly to see a show. Are you interested in adding a concert to a family trip or knocking a legendary performer off your bucket list? You’re a great candidate for this potential bargain.
*Live Nation (tickets sold through Ticketmaster) has sales throughout the U.S. It can really pay off if you’re willing to drive to areas like St. Louis or Chicago.
*Mammoth, a Midwest-dominated entertainment group, is offering additional deals to 70 shows for similar prices over a week-long span.
Look for this logo to get your tickets. But hurry, since a limited number are available. (Live Nation logo.)
At this point, you may be wondering: Yes, John, but what shows are available? LL Cool Z (J’s less popular and talented cousin)? Iron Butterfly with no original members?
The list of more than 100 participating artists includes rock, country, heavy metal, hip hop and even comedy and childrens’ acts.
Pinch yourself. P!nk, Tim McGraw, Blink-182, John Fogerty and Missy Elliott all were on the list.
Granted, finding a great deal may be a challenge. Your dream concert may not be available for $25. (Additional charges or taxes may apply to tickets that you do find, too.)
But consider this: The promotion is celebrating its 10th year, so the folks at Live Nation/Ticketmaster must be doing something right.
Here are the deals I’ve come up with so far:
*Pixies, Modest Mouse and Cat Power at Waukee’s Vibrant Music Hall June 23. A $25 deal that would have cost me at least four times that, according to current prices.
*Luke Bryan at Wells Fargo Arena August 24. This was a great deal. I only go to one or two country shows a year, so why not get a bargain?
