Best Dressed: John's colorful fling into spring
John's wardrobe transitioned from early spring pastels to bold hues
What’s your spring look? For me, it’s a time when I start out in March with light pastel colors and transition to bright colors and shorts weather.
A lot of friends comment on my colorful wardrobe, so here’s a fun view of some of the fashions I wore from March to June — a period when Iowa went from snow to sunshine.

I do hear a few comments about my style, depending on my attire:
“You look like the Jack Nicholson Joker.”
“Is that the same fedora as in ‘The Mask?’ “
Spring has sprung. And went.

I receive compliments from kids and elderly folks alike. It can happen at the library, church, at farmers markets or nightclubs.
There’s a universal “like” I encounter, depending on everyone’s preferences. Some people respond to bright colors, others enjoy how colors are combined.
If you see someone wearing a bright yellow shirt and Vans sneakers along with kelly green shorts, fedora and socks… it might be me.

But where in the world does John find these colorful suits and hats?
I like visiting thrift stores and seeing what’s available, especially shirts and ties. The Des Moines area has a nice selection of stores such as Goodwill, Salvation Army, St. Vincent De Paul, Many Hands and Plato’s Closet. From low to higher end, there are lots of shopping options.
