John's Spring fashion review: Goodbye, spring... and spring colors
The season's changing, and so are clothing styles
Spring will end, according to the calendar, on Thursday, June 20. Which brings us to my season fashion roundup.
So, what did John wear this spring? What didn’t he wear?

My philosophy is to put personal style above all else, with the exception of avoiding something inappropriate to a solemn occasion (you wouldn’t wear a clown suit to church, would you?). I aim for wearing something right for the occasion (and frequently a bit on the dressy side), something comfortable and generally colorful.
Iowa’s unpredictable weather influenced a few of my fashion decision. If it was a rainy day, I definitely did not want to get caught wearing a white suit.
On cool days during the early part of the season (March), I’d typically wear light pastels. On warmer days in June, I could wear shorts, short-sleeved shirts and sneakers — usually in bright colors.

That puts spring fashion in the perspective as the most versatile season of all. People should make the most of it.
The cooler part of early spring allows people to make a slow transition from winter colors. But this year’s short winter season gave a jumpstart to fashion as well as to spring gardens.
I wore pastels quite a bit: Lavender, dusty rose (pink), yellow, Carolina blue and more.
I took the opportunity to wear my seersucker suit and boater hat. It’s a rather old-fashioned look to some, but it’s definitely fun and fits my personal taste.
